沙門果經 (17) 防護諸根門

第二章      防護篇
 

第一節      防護諸根門 Indriyasaṃvaro (Sense Restraint)

☆ 佛遺教經 ➾ 汝等比丘,已能住戒,當制五根,勿令放逸,入於五欲。譬如牧牛之人,執杖視之,不令縱逸,犯人苗稼。若縱五根,非唯五欲,將無涯畔,不可制也;亦如惡馬,不以轡制,將當牽人,墜於阬埳。

(六十四) 213. “Kathañca, mahārāja, bhikkhu indriyesu guttadvāro hoti?

大王!又比丘如何防護諸根門耶?

"And how does a monk guard the doors of his senses?


☆ 佛遺教經 ➾ 汝等比丘,求善知識,求善護助,無如不忘念。若有,不忘念者,諸煩惱賊,則不能入。是故汝等,常當攝念在心。若失念者,則失諸功德。若念力堅強,雖入五欲賊中,不為所害;譬如,著鎧入陣,則無所畏。是名不忘念。

1.       以眼見色

Idha, mahārāja, bhikkhu cakkhunā rūpaṃ disvā na nimittaggāhī hoti nānubyañjanaggāhī.

大王!茲有比丘以眼見色時,不執取主題,不執取細節。

 On seeing a form with the eye, he does not grasp at any theme or details by which –


Yatvādhikaraṇamenaṃ cakkhundriyaṃ asaṃvutaṃ viharantaṃ abhijjhā domanassā pāpakā akusalā dhammā anvāssaveyyuṃ,

彼若放逸,不防護眼根,而隨著流入——貪愛、憂悲、過惡、不淨法。

 if he were to dwell without restraint over the faculty of the eye -- evil, unskillful qualities such as greed or distress might assail him.


tassa saṃvarāya paṭipajjati, rakkhati cakkhundriyaṃ, cakkhundriye saṃvaraṃ āpajjati.

彼遂行攝禦,以防護眼根,令達眼根之防護。


2.       以耳聞聲

Sotena saddaṃ sutvā…pe…

以耳聞聲時,不執取主題,不執取細節。
彼若放逸,不防護耳根,而隨著流入——貪愛、憂悲、過惡、不淨法。
彼遂行攝禦,以防護耳根,令達耳根之防護。

On hearing a sound with the ear...


3.       以鼻嗅香

ghānena gandhaṃ ghāyitvā…pe…

以鼻嗅香時,不執取主題,不執取細節。
彼若放逸,不防護鼻根,而隨著流入——貪愛、憂悲、過惡、不淨法。
彼遂行攝禦,以防護鼻根,令達鼻根之防護。

On smelling an odor with the nose...


4.       以舌嚐味

jivhāya rasaṃ sāyitvā…pe…

以舌嚐味時,不執取主題,不執取細節。
彼若放逸,不防護舌根,而隨著流入——貪愛、憂悲、過惡、不淨法。
彼遂行攝禦,以防護舌根,令達舌根之防護。

One tasting a flavor with the tongue...


5.       以身接觸

kāyena phoṭṭhabbaṃ phusitvā…pe…

以身接觸時,不執取主題,不執取細節。
彼若放逸,不防護身根,而隨著流入——貪愛、憂悲、過惡、不淨法。
彼遂行攝禦,以防護身根,令達身根之防護。

On touching a tactile sensation with the body...



6.       以意知法

☆ 佛遺教經 ➾ 如被劫賊,苦止一世;五根賊禍,殃及累世。為害甚重,不可不慎!是故智者,制而不隨,持之如賊,不令縱逸;假令縱之,皆亦不久,見其磨滅。此五根者,心為其主,是故汝等,當好制心。

manasā dhammaṃ viññāya na nimittaggāhī hoti nānubyañjanaggāhī.

以意知法時,不執取主題,不執取細節。

On cognizing an idea with the intellect, he does not grasp at any theme or details by which --


Yatvādhikaraṇamenaṃ manindriyaṃ asaṃvutaṃ viharantaṃ abhijjhā domanassā pāpakā akusalā dhammā anvāssaveyyuṃ,

彼若放逸,不防護意根,而隨著流入——貪愛、憂悲、過惡、不淨法。

if he were to dwell without restraint over the faculty of the intellect -- evil, unskillful qualities such as greed or distress might assail him.


tassa saṃvarāya paṭipajjati, rakkhati manindriyaṃ, manindriye saṃvaraṃ āpajjati.

彼遂行攝禦,以防護意根,令達意根之防護。




So iminā ariyena indriyasaṃvarena samannāgato ajjhattaṃ abyāsekasukhaṃ paṭisaṃvedeti.

彼依此聖具足諸根之防護,感受內心無垢純淨之安樂。

Endowed with this noble restraint over the sense faculties, he is inwardly sensitive to the pleasure of being blameless.


Evaṃ kho, mahārāja, bhikkhu indriyesu guttadvāro hoti.

大王!如是比丘防護諸根門。

This is how a monk guards the doors of his senses.
