2.     蛇喻經 Alagaddūpamasuttaṃ


    ☆ 《蛇喻經》是《金剛經》的原始版本「汝等比丘!知我說法,如筏喻者;法尚應捨,何況非法? ➾ 汝等實從筏喻,不知:『法尚應捨,何況非法』耶?」 然而,與 《蛇喻經》互相比對以後,更明確說,《金剛經》其實是最著名的偽經,《金剛經》的觀點偏頗很大,對後世的誤導也極其深遠!

    234. Evaṃ me sutaṃ –
    如是我聞──

    ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme.
    一時,世尊在舍衛城祇陀林給孤獨園。

    Tena kho pana samayena ariṭṭhassa nāma bhikkhuno gaddhabādhipubbassa [gandhabādhipubbassa (ka.)] evarūpaṃ pāpakaṃ diṭṭhigataṃ uppannaṃ hoti – “tathāhaṃ bhagavatā dhammaṃ desitaṃ ājānāmi yathā yeme antarāyikā dhammā vuttā bhagavatā te paṭisevato nālaṃ antarāyāyā”ti.
    爾時,原飼鷹者名阿黎吒比丘,生如是惡見,即:「如我了解世尊所說之法,世尊雖說此等為障礙法,但享樂此者,決不為障礙。」

    Assosuṃ kho sambahulā bhikkhū – “ariṭṭhassa kira nāma bhikkhuno gaddhabādhipubbassa evarūpaṃ pāpakaṃ diṭṭhigataṃ uppannaṃ – ‘tathāhaṃ bhagavatā dhammaṃ desitaṃ ājānāmi yathā yeme antarāyikā dhammā vuttā bhagavatā te paṭisevato nālaṃ antarāyāyā’”ti.
    比丘們實多聞,原飼鷹者名阿黎吒比丘,生如是惡見,即:「如我了解世尊所說之法,世尊雖說為障礙法,但享樂此者,決不為障礙。」

    Atha kho te bhikkhū yena ariṭṭho bhikkhu gaddhabādhipubbo tenupasaṅkamiṃsu; upasaṅkamitvā ariṭṭhaṃ bhikkhuṃ gaddhabādhipubbaṃ etadavocuṃ – “saccaṃ kira te, āvuso ariṭṭha, evarūpaṃ pāpakaṃ diṭṭhigataṃ uppannaṃ – ‘tathāhaṃ bhagavatā dhammaṃ desitaṃ ājānāmi yathā yeme antarāyikā dhammā vuttā bhagavatā te paṭisevato nālaṃ antarāyāyā’”ti.
    於是,比丘們,往原飼鷹者名阿黎吒比丘之處,往而言彼比丘說:「賢者阿黎吒!你言『如我了解世尊所說之法,世尊雖說為障礙法,但享樂此者,決不為障礙。』生此惡見是真實耶?」

    “Evaṃbyākho [evaṃ kho (?) bhagavato sammukhāyevassa “evaṃbyākho”ti] ahaṃ, āvuso, bhagavatā dhammaṃ desitaṃ ājānāmi yathā yeme antarāyikā dhammā vuttā bhagavatā te paṭisevato nālaṃ antarāyāyā”ti.
    [彼說:]「然?如是!諸賢,如我了解世尊所說之法者,世尊雖說為障礙法,但享樂此者,決不為障礙。」

    Atha kho tepi bhikkhū ariṭṭhaṃ bhikkhuṃ gaddhabādhipubbaṃ etasmā pāpakā diṭṭhigatā vivecetukāmā samanuyuñjanti samanugāhanti [samanuggāhanti (syā.)] samanubhāsanti – “mā hevaṃ, āvuso ariṭṭha, avaca, mā bhagavantaṃ abbhācikkhi; na hi sādhu bhagavato abbhakkhānaṃ [abbhācikkhanaṃ (ka.)], na hi bhagavā evaṃ vadeyya.
    於是,比丘們,欲原飼鷹者,阿黎吒比丘,離此惡見,以相互質問其理由,共研究說:「賢者阿黎吒!勿如是言,勿誣謗世尊,誣謗世尊者不善,世尊不如是說。

    Anekapariyāyenāvuso ariṭṭha, antarāyikā dhammā antarāyikā vuttā bhagavatā, alañca pana te paṭisevato antarāyāya.
   
賢者阿黎吒!世尊以種種法門,說是障礙法,而且他們享樂此者,實為障礙也。

    Appassādā kāmā vuttā bhagavatā bahudukkhā bahupāyāsā,ādīnavo ettha bhiyyo.
   
如世尊所說:欲是樂少,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患──

    Aṭṭhikaṅkalūpamā kāmā vuttā bhagavatā…pe…

又如世尊說喻:欲是骸骨,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患;

    maṃsapesūpamā kāmā vuttā bhagavatā…

又如世尊說喻:欲是肉臠,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患;

    tiṇukkūpamā kāmā vuttā bhagavatā…

又如世尊說喻:欲是草炬,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患;

    aṅgārakāsūpamā kāmā vuttā bhagavatā…

又如世尊說喻:欲是炭火,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患;

又如世尊說喻:欲是屠場,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患;

    sattisūlūpamā kāmā vuttā bhagavatā…

又如世尊說喻:欲是砧板,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患;

    sappasirūpamā kāmā vuttā bhagavatā bahudukkhā bahupāyāsā, ādīnavo ettha bhiyyo”ti.

又如世尊說喻:欲是蛇頭,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患!」

    Evampi kho ariṭṭho bhikkhu gaddhabādhipubbo tehi bhikkhūhi samanuyuñjiyamāno samanugāhiyamāno [samanuggāhiyamāno (syā. vinayepi)] samanubhāsiyamāno tadeva [tatheva taṃ (vinaye)] pāpakaṃ diṭṭhigataṃ thāmasā parāmāsā abhinivissa voharati – “evaṃbyākho ahaṃ, āvuso, bhagavatā dhammaṃ desitaṃ ājānāmi yathā yeme antarāyikā dhammā vuttā bhagavatā te paṭisevato nālaṃ antarāyāyā”ti.
    如是原飼鷹者,阿黎吒比丘,從比丘們相互質問,以問其理由而其研究,彼猶頑強固執惡見,墨守主張:「諸賢!如我了解世尊所說之法,世尊雖說是障礙法,但享樂此者,決不為障礙。」

    235. Yato kho te bhikkhū nāsakkhiṃsu ariṭṭhaṃ bhikkhuṃ gaddhabādhipubbaṃ etasmā pāpakā diṭṭhigatā vivecetuṃ, atha kho te bhikkhū yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkamiṃsu; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdiṃsu.
    比丘們,對原飼鷹者阿黎比丘,不得離此惡見,於是而詣世尊之處,詣而稽首世尊,坐於一面。

    Ekamantaṃ nisinnā kho te bhikkhū bhagavantaṃ etadavocuṃ – “ariṭṭhassa nāma, bhante, bhikkhuno gaddhabādhipubbassa evarūpaṃ pāpakaṃ diṭṭhigataṃ uppannaṃ – ‘tathāhaṃ bhagavatā dhammaṃ desitaṃ ājānāmi yathā yeme antarāyikā dhammā vuttā bhagavatā te paṭisevato nālaṃ antarāyāyā’ti.
    於一面坐之比丘們白世尊:「大德!原飼鷲者名阿黎吒比丘,生如是惡見:『如我了解世尊所說之法,世尊雖說為障礙法,但享樂此者,決不為障礙。』

    Assumha kho mayaṃ, bhante – ‘ariṭṭhassa kira nāma bhikkhuno gaddhabādhipubbassa evarūpaṃ pāpakaṃ diṭṭhigataṃ uppannaṃ – tathāhaṃ bhagavatā dhammaṃ desitaṃ ājānāmi yathā yeme antarāyikā dhammā vuttā bhagavatā te paṭisevato nālaṃ antarāyāyā’ti.
    大德!又實際我等聞,原飼鷹者名阿黎吒比丘,生如是之惡見,即:『如我了解世尊所說之法,世尊雖說為障礙法,但享樂此者,決不為障礙。』。

    Atha kho mayaṃ, bhante, yena ariṭṭho bhikkhu gaddhabādhipubbo tenupasaṅkamimha; upasaṅkamitvā ariṭṭhaṃ bhikkhuṃ gaddhabādhipubbaṃ etadavocumha – ‘saccaṃ kira te, āvuso ariṭṭha, evarūpaṃ pāpakaṃ diṭṭhigataṃ uppannaṃ – tathāhaṃ bhagavatā dhammaṃ desitaṃ ājānāmi yathā yeme antarāyikā dhammā vuttā bhagavatā te paṭisevato nālaṃ antarāyāyā’ti?
    如是,大德!我等往原飼鷹者名阿黎吒比丘處,往彼如次言之:『賢者阿黎吒!你如是惡見,即:如我了解世尊所說法,世尊雖說是障礙法,但享樂此者,決不為障礙。實生此惡見耶?』

    “Evaṃ vutte, bhante, ariṭṭho bhikkhu gaddhabādhipubbo amhe etadavoca – ‘evaṃbyākho ahaṃ, āvuso, bhagavatā dhammaṃ desitaṃ ājānāmi yathā yeme antarāyikā dhammā vuttā bhagavatā te paṭisevato nālaṃ antarāyāyā’ti.
    大德!如是問時,原飼鷹者名阿黎吒比丘,如次答我等:『然!如我了解世尊所說之法,世尊雖說為障礙法,但享樂此者,決不為障礙。』

    Atha kho mayaṃ, bhante, ariṭṭhaṃ bhikkhuṃ gaddhabādhipubbaṃ etasmā pāpakā diṭṭhigatā vivecetukāmā samanuyuñjimha samanugāhimha samanubhāsimha –
    大德!於是我等,為原飼鷹者,阿黎吒比丘,離此惡見,相互質問其理由,共研究而說:

    ‘mā hevaṃ, āvuso ariṭṭha, avaca, mā bhagavantaṃ abbhācikkhi; na hi sādhu bhagavato abbhakkhānaṃ, na hi bhagavā evaṃ vadeyya.
   
『賢者阿黎吒!勿如是言、勿誣謗世尊,誣謗世尊者實不善,世尊不如是說。

    Anekapariyāyenāvuso ariṭṭha, antarāyikā dhammā antarāyikā vuttā bhagavatā, alañca pana te paṭisevato antarāyāya.
   
賢者阿黎吒!世尊實以種種法門說是障礙法,而且他們享樂此者,實為障礙也。

    Appassādā kāmā vuttā bhagavatā bahudukkhā bahupāyāsā, ādīnavo ettha bhiyyo.
   
如世尊所說:欲是樂少,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患──

    Aṭṭhikaṅkalūpamā kāmā vuttā bhagavatā…pe… sappasirūpamā kāmā vuttā bhagavatā bahudukkhā bahupāyāsā, ādīnavo ettha bhiyyo’ti.

又如世尊說喻:欲是骸骨,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患;
    ②
又如世尊說喻:欲是肉臠,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患;
    ③
又如世尊說喻:欲是草炬,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患;
    ④
又如世尊說喻:欲是炭火,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患;
    ⑤
又如世尊說喻:欲是夢境,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患;
    ⑥
又如世尊說喻:欲是借物,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患;
    ⑦
又如世尊說喻:欲是樹果,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患;
    ⑧
又如世尊說喻:欲是屠場,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患;
    ⑨
又如世尊說喻:欲是砧板,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患;
    ⑩
又如世尊說喻:欲是蛇頭,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患!』

    Evampi kho, bhante, ariṭṭho bhikkhu gaddhabādhipubbo amhehi samanuyuñjiyamāno samanugāhiyamāno samanubhāsiyamāno tadeva pāpakaṃ diṭṭhigataṃ thāmasā parāmāsā abhinivissa voharati – ‘evaṃbyākho ahaṃ, āvuso, bhagavatā dhammaṃ desitaṃ ājānāmi yathā yeme antarāyikā dhammā vuttā bhagavatā te paṭisevato nālaṃ antarāyāyā’ti.
    大德!如是原飼鷹者,阿黎吒比丘,從我等之相互質問其理由,共研究之,彼猶頑強固執惡見,墨守主張:『如我了解世尊所說之法,世尊雖說是障礙法,但享樂此者,決不為障礙。』

    Yato kho mayaṃ, bhante, nāsakkhimha ariṭṭhaṃ bhikkhuṃ gaddhabādhipubbaṃ etasmā pāpakā diṭṭhigatā vivecetuṃ, atha mayaṃ etamatthaṃ bhagavato ārocemā”ti.
    大德!我等因原飼鷹者,阿黎吒比丘,不得離此惡見,於是我等以此事白世尊。」

    236. Atha kho bhagavā aññataraṃ bhikkhuṃ āmantesi – “ehi tvaṃ, bhikkhu, mama vacanena ariṭṭhaṃ bhikkhuṃ gaddhabādhipubbaṃ āmantehi – ‘satthā taṃ, āvuso ariṭṭha, āmantetī’”ti.
    於是世尊呼一比丘:「比丘!你以我之名,至原飼鷹者,阿黎吒比丘處,以告『賢者阿黎吒!我師呼你。』」

    “Evaṃ, bhante”ti kho so bhikkhu bhagavato paṭissutvā, yena ariṭṭho bhikkhu gaddhabādhipubbo tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā ariṭṭhaṃ bhikkhuṃ gaddhabādhipubbaṃ etadavoca – “satthā taṃ, āvuso ariṭṭha, āmantetī”ti.
    「唯、奉教」彼比丘應諾世尊,而往原飼鷹者,阿黎吒比丘處,往而告原飼鷹者,阿黎吒比丘:「賢者阿黎吒!我師呼你。」

    “Evamāvuso”ti kho ariṭṭho bhikkhu gaddhabādhipubbo tassa bhikkhuno paṭissutvā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ nisīdi.
    「友!奉教!」原飼鷹者,阿黎吒比丘應諾彼比丘而詣世尊之處;詣而稽首世尊,坐於一面。

    Ekamantaṃ nisinnaṃ kho ariṭṭhaṃ bhikkhuṃ gaddhabādhipubbaṃ bhagavā etadavoca – “saccaṃ kira te, ariṭṭha, evarūpaṃ pāpakaṃ diṭṭhigataṃ uppannaṃ – ‘tathāhaṃ bhagavatā dhammaṃ desitaṃ ājānāmi yathā yeme antarāyikā dhammā vuttā bhagavatā te paṭisevato nālaṃ antarāyāyā’”ti?
    世尊如次問坐一面之阿黎吒:「阿黎吒!你生『如我了解世尊所說之法,世尊雖說為障礙法,但享樂此者,決不為障礙』之惡見,實否?」

    “Evaṃbyākho ahaṃ, bhante, bhagavatā dhammaṃ desitaṃ ājānāmi – ‘yathā yeme antarāyikā dhammā vuttā bhagavatā te paṭisevato nālaṃ antarāyāyā’”ti.
    [阿黎吒說:]「然!大德!『如我了解世尊所說之法,世尊雖說為障礙法,但享樂此者,決不為障礙。』」

    “Kassa kho nāma tvaṃ, moghapurisa, mayā evaṃ dhammaṃ desitaṃ ājānāsi?
   
世尊說:「愚癡人!你謹慎而從誰知我如是說法耶?

    Nanu mayā, moghapurisa, anekapariyāyena antarāyikā dhammā antarāyikā vuttā? Alañca pana te paṭisevato antarāyāya.
   
愚癡人!我實豈不以種種法門說為障礙法乎?而且他們享樂此者,實不為障礙乎?

    Appassādā kāmā vuttā mayā, bahudukkhā bahupāyāsā, ādīnavo ettha bhiyyo.
   
如我所說:欲是樂少,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患──

    Aṭṭhikaṅkalūpamā kāmā vuttā mayā…

又如我說喻:欲是骸骨,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患;

    maṃsapesūpamā kāmā vuttā mayā…

    Atha ca pana tvaṃ, moghapurisa, attanā duggahitena amhe ceva abbhācikkhasi, attānañca khanasi, bahuñca apuññaṃ pasavasi.
   
然!愚癡人!你以自誤解釋,卻以誣謗我等,自破壞,多作罪業。

    Tañhi te, moghapurisa, bhavissati dīgharattaṃ ahitāya dukkhāyā”ti.
   
愚癡人!其實你永久非饒益以致不幸。」

    Atha kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi – “taṃ kiṃ maññatha, bhikkhave, api nāyaṃ ariṭṭho bhikkhu gaddhabādhipubbo usmīkatopi imasmiṃ dhammavinaye”ti?
    如是世尊告比丘們說:「比丘們!你們對此如何思惟耶?此原飼鷹者,阿黎吒比丘,誤認此正法與聖律,無非起熱惱火焰者耶?」

    “Kiñhi [kiṃti (ka.)] siyā, bhante; no hetaṃ, bhante”ti.
   
[比丘們說:]「何故為然?大德!其實不然!大德!」

    Evaṃ vutte, ariṭṭho bhikkhu gaddhabādhipubbo tuṇhībhūto maṅkubhūto pattakkhandho adhomukho pajjhāyanto appaṭibhāno nisīdi.
   
如是言時,原飼鷹者,阿黎吒比丘沈默、懊惱、縮肩、低頭,悄悄不能答而坐。

    Atha kho bhagavā ariṭṭhaṃ bhikkhuṃ gaddhabādhipubbaṃ tuṇhībhūtaṃ maṅkubhūtaṃ pattakkhandhaṃ adhomukhaṃ pajjhāyantaṃ appaṭibhānaṃ viditvā ariṭṭhaṃ bhikkhuṃ gaddhabādhipubbaṃ etadavoca – “paññāyissasi kho tvaṃ, moghapurisa, etena sakena pāpakena diṭṭhigatena. Idhāhaṃ bhikkhū paṭipucchissāmī”ti.
    於是世尊知原飼鷹者,阿黎吒比丘沈默、懊惱、伏項、伏面、逆上、困惑,如次告阿黎吒比丘:「愚癡人!你應知此自身之惡見,今我問比丘大眾。」

    237. Atha kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi – “tumhepi me, bhikkhave, evaṃ dhammaṃ desitaṃ ājānātha yathāyaṃ ariṭṭho bhikkhu gaddhabādhipubbo attanā duggahitena amhe ceva abbhācikkhati, attānañca khanati, bahuñca apuññaṃ pasavatī”ti?
    於是世尊言比丘們:「比丘們!你們亦與此原飼鷹者,阿黎吒比丘以自誤解釋,卻以誣謗我等,自破壞,多作罪業,如是了解我說法耶?」

    “No hetaṃ, bhante. Anekapariyāyena hi no, bhante, antarāyikā dhammā antarāyikā vuttā bhagavatā; alañca pana te paṭisevato antarāyāya.
    [比丘們說:]「不然,大德!世尊實以種種法門為我等說為障礙法,而且他們享樂此者,實為障礙也。

    Appassādā kāmā vuttā bhagavatā bahudukkhā bahupāyāsā, ādīnavo ettha bhiyyo.
   
如世尊所說:欲是樂少,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患──

    Aṭṭhikaṅkalūpamā kāmā vuttā bhagavatā…pe… sappasirūpamā kāmā vuttā bhagavatā bahudukkhā bahupāyāsā, ādīnavo ettha bhiyyo”ti.

    “Sādhu sādhu, bhikkhave, sādhu, kho me tumhe, bhikkhave, evaṃ dhammaṃ desitaṃ ājānātha.
   
[世尊說:]「善哉!比丘們!善哉!比丘們!你們對我之說法如是了解。

    Anekapariyāyena hi kho, bhikkhave, antarāyikā dhammā vuttā mayā, alañca pana te paṭisevato antarāyāya.
   
比丘們!實為你們,我以種種法門說為障礙法,而且他們享樂此者,實為障礙也。

    Appassādā kāmā vuttā mayā, bahudukkhā bahupāyāsā, ādīnavo ettha bhiyyo.
   
如我所說:欲是樂少,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患──

    Aṭṭhikaṅkalūpamā kāmā vuttā mayā…pe… sappasirūpamā kāmā vuttā mayā, bahudukkhā bahupāyāsā, ādīnavo ettha bhiyyo.

又如我說喻:欲是砧板,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患;

又如我說喻:欲是蛇頭,苦多、惱多,說其處更有患!

    Atha ca panāyaṃ ariṭṭho bhikkhu gaddhabādhipubbo attanā duggahitena amhe ceva abbhācikkhati, attānañca khanati, bahuñca apuññaṃ pasavati.
    然!此原飼鷹者,阿黎吒比丘以自誤解釋,誣謗我等,而且以自破壞,多作罪業。

    Tañhi tassa moghapurisassa bhavissati dīgharattaṃ ahitāya dukkhāya.
   
其實彼愚癡人永久非饒益,以致不幸。

    So vata, bhikkhave, aññatreva kāmehi aññatra kāmasaññāya aññatra kāmavitakkehi kāme paṭisevissatīti – netaṃ ṭhānaṃ vijjati”.
   
比丘們!彼是於愛欲以外、於欲想以外,欲念尋思以外,受用愛欲,如是者不可能有!

    238. “Idha, bhikkhave, ekacce moghapurisā dhammaṃ pariyāpuṇanti – suttaṃ, geyyaṃ, veyyākaraṇaṃ, gāthaṃ, udānaṃ, itivuttakaṃ, jātakaṃ, abbhutadhammaṃ, vedallaṃ.
    比丘們!如果愚癡人學法,即:經、應頌、解說、諷頌、自說語、如是語、本生譚、未曾有法、教理問答。

    Te taṃ dhammaṃ pariyāpuṇitvā tesaṃ dhammānaṃ paññāya atthaṃ na upaparikkhanti.
   
他們雖學彼法,然未能以智慧,體證、觀察法義;

    Tesaṃ te dhammā paññāya atthaṃ anupaparikkhataṃ na nijjhānaṃ khamanti.
   
故,他們不得明了此法,未能以智慧,體證、觀察法義;

    Te upārambhānisaṃsā ceva dhammaṃ pariyāpuṇanti itivādappamokkhānisaṃsā ca.
   
他們為論詰之快味、為饒舌之快味,傲慢以學法;

    Yassa catthāya dhammaṃ pariyāpuṇanti tañcassa atthaṃ nānubhonti.
   
他們不適學法之真目的;

    Tesaṃ te dhammā duggahitā dīgharattaṃ ahitāya dukkhāya saṃvattanti.
   
他們誤解此法,長夜不饒益,導致苦難。

    Taṃ kissa hetu? Duggahitattā, bhikkhave, dhammānaṃ.
   
何以故?比丘們!對於正法誤解也。

    “Seyyathāpi, bhikkhave, puriso alagaddatthiko alagaddagavesī alagaddapariyesanaṃ caramāno.
   
比丘們!譬喻有人四處奔走,欲得蛇、覓蛇、索蛇而行。

    So passeyya mahantaṃ alagaddaṃ.
   
若見大蛇,

    Tamenaṃ bhoge vā naṅguṭṭhe vā gaṇheyya.
   
彼即於此或依胴腰、或依尾而捕捉、

    Tassa so alagaddo paṭiparivattitvā [paṭinivattitvā (syā. ka.)] hatthe vā bāhāya vā aññatarasmiṃ vā aṅgapaccaṅge ḍaṃseyya [ḍaseyya (sī. pī.)].
    其蛇迴頭咬彼人之手、或腕、或餘之肢節,

    So tatonidānaṃ maraṇaṃ vā nigaccheyya maraṇamattaṃ vā dukkhaṃ.
   
彼因此受死或將死之苦。

    Taṃ kissa hetu? Duggahitattā, bhikkhave, alagaddassa.
   
何以故?比丘們!因彼不真通曉捕蛇之法。

    Evameva kho, bhikkhave, idhekacce moghapurisā dhammaṃ pariyāpuṇanti – suttaṃ, geyyaṃ, veyyākaraṇaṃ, gāthaṃ, udānaṃ, itivuttakaṃ, jātakaṃ, abbhutadhammaṃ, vedallaṃ.
    如是,比丘們!如果愚癡人學法,即:經、應頌、解說、諷頌、自說語、如是語、本生譚、未曾有法、教理問答。

    Te taṃ dhammaṃ pariyāpuṇitvā tesaṃ dhammānaṃ paññāya atthaṃ na upaparikkhanti.

    239. “Idha pana, bhikkhave, ekacce kulaputtā dhammaṃ pariyāpuṇanti – suttaṃ, geyyaṃ, veyyākaraṇaṃ, gāthaṃ, udānaṃ, itivuttakaṃ, jātakaṃ, abbhutadhammaṃ, vedallaṃ.
    比丘們!如果善男子學法,即:經、應頌、解說、諷頌、自說語、如是語、本生譚、未曾有法、教理問答。

    Te taṃ dhammaṃ pariyāpuṇitvā tesaṃ dhammānaṃ paññāya atthaṃ upaparikkhanti.
   
他們學習彼法,並且能以智慧,體證、觀察法義;

    Tesaṃ te dhammā paññāya atthaṃ upaparikkhataṃ nijjhānaṃ khamanti.
   
是故,他們得以明了此法,且能以智慧,體證、觀察法義;

    Te na ceva upārambhānisaṃsā dhammaṃ pariyāpuṇanti na itivādappamokkhānisaṃsā ca [na ca itivādappamokkhānisaṃsā (?)].
   
他們不為論詰之快味、不為饒舌之快味,不傲慢以學法;

    Yassa catthāya dhammaṃ pariyāpuṇanti tañcassa atthaṃ anubhonti.
   
他們實踐學法之真目的;

    Tesaṃ te dhammā suggahitā dīgharattaṃ hitāya sukhāya saṃvattanti.
   
他們善解此法,帶來長久饒益、獲得幸福。

    Taṃ kissa hetu? Suggahitattā bhikkhave dhammānaṃ.
   
何以故?比丘們!對於正法善解也。

    “Seyyathāpi, bhikkhave, puriso alagaddatthiko alagaddagavesī alagaddapariyesanaṃ caramāno.
   
比丘們!譬喻有人欲蛇、望蛇、索蛇而行,

    So passeyya mahantaṃ alagaddaṃ.
   
以見大蛇,

    Tamenaṃ ajapadena daṇḍena suniggahitaṃ niggaṇheyya.
   
彼以其羊趾形之杖克押之,

    Ajapadena daṇḍena suniggahitaṃ niggahitvā, gīvāya suggahitaṃ gaṇheyya.
   
克押以克首而捕捉。

    Kiñcāpi so, bhikkhave, alagaddo tassa purisassa hatthaṃ vā bāhaṃ vā aññataraṃ vā aṅgapaccaṅgaṃ bhogehi paliveṭheyya, atha kho so neva tatonidānaṃ maraṇaṃ vā nigaccheyya maraṇamattaṃ vā dukkhaṃ.
    比丘們!彼蛇以胴體如何捲彼人之手,或腕、或餘支節,但因此,彼人不為受死或將死之苦。

    Taṃ kissa hetu? Suggahitattā, bhikkhave, alagaddassa.
   
何以故?比丘們!對於蛇有善理解也。

    Evameva kho, bhikkhave, idhekacce kulaputtā dhammaṃ pariyāpuṇanti – suttaṃ, geyyaṃ, veyyākaraṇaṃ, gāthaṃ, udānaṃ, itivuttakaṃ, jātakaṃ, abbhutadhammaṃ, vedallaṃ.

    Taṃ kissa hetu? Suggahitattā, bhikkhave, dhammānaṃ.
   
何以故?比丘們!對於正法善解也。

    Tasmātiha, bhikkhave, yassa me bhāsitassa atthaṃ ājāneyyātha, tathā naṃ dhāreyyātha.
   
是故,比丘們!若從我所說,理解其意義者,則應如是受持;

    Yassa ca pana me bhāsitassa atthaṃ na ājāneyyātha, ahaṃ vo tattha paṭipucchitabbo, ye vā panāssu viyattā bhikkhū.
   
又若不理解,從我所說之意義者,對此你們應問我,或應問彼賢明之比丘。

    240. “Kullūpamaṃ vo, bhikkhave, dhammaṃ desessāmi nittharaṇatthāya, no gahaṇatthāya.
   
比丘們!我為度脫你們、不令執著,而說筏喻之法。

    Taṃ suṇātha, sādhukaṃ manasikarotha, bhāsissāmī”ti.
   
諦聽!善思念之!今將說之。」

    “Evaṃ, bhante”ti kho te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṃ.
   
比丘們說:「願樂欲聞!」以應諾世尊。

    Bhagavā etadavoca – “seyyathāpi, bhikkhave, puriso addhānamaggappaṭipanno.
   
如是世尊說:「比丘們!譬喻有人行於山道,

    So passeyya mahantaṃ udakaṇṇavaṃ, orimaṃ tīraṃ sāsaṅkaṃ sappaṭibhayaṃ, pārimaṃ tīraṃ khemaṃ appaṭibhayaṃ; na cassa nāvā santāraṇī uttarasetu vā apārā pāraṃ gamanāya.
    見其有大水流,而此岸有危險且恐怖,彼岸安穩而無恐怖,而且從此岸往彼岸無有渡舟,又無橋樑。

    Tassa evamassa – ‘ayaṃ kho mahāudakaṇṇavo, orimaṃ tīraṃ sāsaṅkaṃ sappaṭibhayaṃ, pārimaṃ tīraṃ khemaṃ appaṭibhayaṃ; natthi ca nāvā santāraṇī uttarasetu vā apārā pāraṃ gamanāya.
    彼乃思之:『此甚大之水流,而且此岸有危險恐怖,彼岸安穩而無恐怖,而且從此岸往彼岸,無有渡舟,又無橋樑。

    Yaṃnūnāhaṃ tiṇakaṭṭhasākhāpalāsaṃ saṃkaḍḍhitvā, kullaṃ bandhitvā, taṃ kullaṃ nissāya hatthehi ca pādehi ca vāyamamāno sotthinā pāraṃ uttareyyan’ti.
    然!我收聚草、木、枝、葉以作筏,依其筏,以手足努力而渡於安全之彼岸。』

    Atha kho so, bhikkhave, puriso tiṇakaṭṭhasākhāpalāsaṃ saṃkaḍḍhitvā, kullaṃ bandhitvā taṃ kullaṃ nissāya hatthehi ca pādehi ca vāyamamāno sotthinā pāraṃ uttareyya.
    比丘們!於是彼人收聚草、木、枝、葉以作筏,依其筏以手足努力,渡於安全之彼岸。

    Tassa purisassa uttiṇṇassa [tiṇṇassa (pī. ka.)] pāraṅgatassa evamassa – ‘bahukāro kho me ayaṃ kullo; imāhaṃ kullaṃ nissāya hatthehi ca pādehi ca vāyamamāno sotthinā pāraṃ uttiṇṇo.
    渡之以達彼岸,彼以生如次之念,即:『此筏於我有多饒益,我依此筏以手足努力,而達安全之岸;

    Yaṃnūnāhaṃ imaṃ kullaṃ sīse vā āropetvā khandhe vā uccāretvā [uccopetvā (ka.)] yena kāmaṃ pakkameyyan’ti.
   
然,我從此筏或以戴於頭,或以擔於肩,如所欲而行。』

    Taṃ kiṃ maññatha, bhikkhave, api nu so puriso evaṃkārī tasmiṃ kulle kiccakārī assā”ti?
   
比丘們!其意如何耶?彼人如是對於彼筏應如是為者乎?」

    “No hetaṃ, bhante”.
   
[比丘們說:]「不然!大德!」

    “Kathaṃkārī ca so, bhikkhave, puriso tasmiṃ kulle kiccakārī assa?
   
[世尊說:]「比丘們!彼人對彼之筏應如何為之乎?

    Idha, bhikkhave, tassa purisassa uttiṇṇassa pāraṅgatassa evamassa – ‘bahukāro kho me ayaṃ kullo; imāhaṃ kullaṃ nissāya hatthehi ca pādehi ca vāyamamāno sotthinā pāraṃ uttiṇṇo.
    比丘們!如是渡達彼岸之彼人,作如次之念,即:『此筏對我多所饒益,我依此筏以手足努力,而渡安全之岸;

    Yaṃnūnāhaṃ imaṃ kullaṃ thale vā ussādetvā [ussāretvā (ka.)] udake vā opilāpetvā yena kāmaṃ pakkameyyan’ti.
   
然!我以此筏,或置於岸上,或浸於水後,如所欲而行。』

    Evaṃkārī kho so, bhikkhave, puriso tasmiṃ kulle kiccakārī assa.
   
比丘們!彼人如是為者,對彼筏以應為而為者也。

    Evameva kho, bhikkhave, kullūpamo mayā dhammo desito nittharaṇatthāya, no gahaṇatthāya.
   
比丘們!如是,我為度脫你們、不令執著,而說筏喻法。

    Kullūpamaṃ vo, bhikkhave, dhammaṃ desitaṃ, ājānantehi dhammāpi vo pahātabbā pageva adhammā.
   
比丘們!你們實從筏喻,不知:『法尚應捨,何況非法』耶?

    241. “Chayimāni, bhikkhave, diṭṭhiṭṭhānāni. Katamāni cha?
   
比丘們!此等有六見處,云何為六?

    Idha, bhikkhave, assutavā puthujjano ariyānaṃ adassāvī ariyadhammassa akovido ariyadhamme avinīto, sappurisānaṃ adassāvī sappurisadhammassa akovido sappurisadhamme avinīto,
    比丘們!世上無聞凡夫,不見聖者、不知聖者之法、不以聖法調御、不見善知識、不知善士之法、不以善法調御;

    rūpaṃ ‘etaṃ mama, esohamasmi, eso me attā’ti samanupassati;
   
見色認為:『此是我所有、此即是我、此乃我之靈魂。』

    vedanaṃ ‘etaṃ mama, esohamasmi, eso me attā’ti samanupassati;
   
又,見受認為:『此是我所有、此即是我、此乃我之靈魂。』

    saññaṃ ‘etaṃ mama, esohamasmi, eso me attā’ti samanupassati;
   
又,見想認為:『此是我所有、此即是我、此乃我之靈魂。』

    saṅkhāre ‘etaṃ mama, esohamasmi, eso me attā’ti samanupassati;
   
又,見行認為:『此是我所有、此即是我、此乃我之靈魂。』

    yampi taṃ diṭṭhaṃ sutaṃ mutaṃ viññātaṃ pattaṃ pariyesitaṃ, anuvicaritaṃ manasā tampi ‘etaṃ mama, esohamasmi, eso me attā’ti samanupassati;
    又,凡此所見、所聽、所思量、所識、所得、所欲、意想思惟者,亦皆認為:『此是我所有、此即是我、此乃我之靈魂。』

    yampi taṃ diṭṭhiṭṭhānaṃ – so loko so attā, so pecca bhavissāmi nicco dhuvo sassato avipariṇāmadhammo, sassatisamaṃ tatheva ṭhassāmīti – tampi ‘etaṃ mama, esohamasmi, eso me attā’ti samanupassati.
    又,凡此見處,即──彼是世界,彼是我,彼我死後成為常住、常恆、久遠、非變異法,我是永遠如是存在──於此見處,認為:『此是我所有、此即是我、此乃我之靈魂。』

    Sutavā ca kho, bhikkhave, ariyasāvako ariyānaṃ dassāvī ariyadhammassa kovido ariyadhamme suvinīto, sappurisānaṃ dassāvī sappurisadhammassa kovido sappurisadhamme suvinīto,
    比丘們!多聞聖弟子,乃見聖者、乃知聖者之法、乃以聖法調御、乃見善知識、乃知善士之法、乃以善法調御;

    rūpaṃ ‘netaṃ mama, nesohamasmi, na meso attā’ti samanupassati;
   
見色認為:『此非我所有、此非是我、此非我之靈魂。』

    vedanaṃ ‘netaṃ mama, nesohamasmi, na meso attā’ti samanupassati;
   
又,見受認為:『此非我所有、此非是我、此非我之靈魂。』

    saññaṃ ‘netaṃ mama, nesohamasmi, na meso attā’ti samanupassati;
   
又,見想認為:『此非我所有、此非是我、此非我之靈魂。』

    saṅkhāre ‘netaṃ mama, nesohamasmi, na meso attā’ti samanupassati;
   
又,見行認為:『此非我所有、此非是我、此非我之靈魂。』

    yampi taṃ diṭṭhaṃ sutaṃ mutaṃ viññātaṃ pattaṃ pariyesitaṃ, anuvicaritaṃ manasā, tampi ‘netaṃ mama, nesohamasmi, na meso attā’ti samanupassati;

    So evaṃ samanupassanto asati na paritassatī”ti.
   
如是觀彼,為非實有者,即不焦勞也!」

    242. Evaṃ vutte, aññataro bhikkhu bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – “siyā nu kho, bhante, bahiddhā asati paritassanā”ti?
   
如是說時,比丘白世尊:「大德!於外非實有者,有焦勞耶?」

    “Siyā, bhikkhū”ti – bhagavā avoca.
   
世尊說:「比丘!有!」

    “Idha bhikkhu ekaccassa evaṃ hoti – ‘ahu vata me, taṃ vata me natthi; siyā vata me, taṃ vatāhaṃ na labhāmī’ti.
    [世尊說:]「比丘!或有人思之:『嗚呼!有我在此,今此我實無。若我在者善,今此我實是不可得。』

    So socati kilamati paridevati urattāḷiṃ kandati sammohaṃ āpajjati.
   
彼即愁、惱、悲、打胸哭泣,以生困惑。

    Evaṃ kho, bhikkhu, bahiddhā asati paritassanā hotī”ti.
   
比丘!如是於外非實有者,有焦勞。」

    “Siyā pana, bhante, bahiddhā asati aparitassanā”ti?
   
[比丘說:]「大德!於外非實有者,非有焦勞耶?」

    “Siyā, bhikkhū”ti – bhagavā avoca.
   
世尊說:「比丘!有!」

    “Idha bhikkhu ekaccassa na evaṃ hoti – ‘ahu vata me, taṃ vata me natthi; siyā vata me, taṃ vatāhaṃ na labhāmī’ti.
    [世尊說:]「比丘!於此或者不想:『嗚呼!有我在此,今此我實無。若我在者善,今此我實是不可得。』

    So na socati na kilamati na paridevati na urattāḷiṃ kandati na sammohaṃ āpajjati.
   
彼即不愁、不惱、不悲、不打胸哭泣,不生困惑。

    Evaṃ kho, bhikkhu, bahiddhā asati aparitassanā hotī”ti.
   
比丘!如是於外非實有者,非有焦勞。」

    “Siyā nu kho, bhante, ajjhattaṃ asati paritassanā”ti?
   
[比丘說:]「大德!於內非實有者,有焦勞耶?」

    “Siyā, bhikkhū”ti – bhagavā avoca.
   
世尊說:「比丘!有!」

    “Idha, bhikkhu, ekaccassa evaṃ diṭṭhi hoti – ‘so loko so attā, so pecca bhavissāmi nicco dhuvo sassato avipariṇāmadhammo, sassatisamaṃ tatheva ṭhassāmī’ti.
    [世尊說:]「比丘!於此比丘有如次之見:『彼是世界,彼是我,我于死後,成為常住、常恆、久遠、非變異法,我是永遠如是存在。』

    So suṇāti tathāgatassa vā tathāgatasāvakassa vā sabbesaṃ diṭṭhiṭṭhānādhiṭṭhānapariyuṭṭhānābhinivesānusayānaṃ samugghātāya sabbasaṅkhārasamathāya sabbūpadhipaṭinissaggāya taṇhākkhayāya virāgāya nirodhāya nibbānāya dhammaṃ desentassa.
    彼從如來或從如來之弟子為除一切之見處、偏見、纏、傾、隨眠之基,為一切行之止靜,為一切依之破棄,為渴愛之滅,為貪欲之離,為滅盡,為涅槃而聽說法。

    Tassa evaṃ hoti – ‘ucchijjissāmi nāmassu, vinassissāmi nāmassu, nassu nāma bhavissāmī’ti.
   
而且彼作是念:「我實是斷滅、我實是破滅、我實不成為永遠存在者。」

    So socati kilamati paridevati urattāḷiṃ kandati sammohaṃ āpajjati.
   
彼即愁、惱、悲、打胸哭泣、以生困惑。

    Evaṃ kho, bhikkhu, ajjhattaṃ asati paritassanā hotī”ti.
   
比丘!如是於內非實有者而焦勞。」

    “Siyā pana, bhante, ajjhattaṃ asati aparitassanā”ti?
   
[比丘說:]「大德!於內非實有者,非有焦勞耶?」

    “Siyā, bhikkhū”ti bhagavā avoca.
   
世尊說:「比丘!有!」

    “Idha, bhikkhu, ekaccassa na evaṃ diṭṭhi hoti – ‘so loko so attā, so pecca bhavissāmi nicco dhuvo sassato avipariṇāmadhammo, sassatisamaṃ tatheva ṭhassāmī’ti.
    [世尊說:]「比丘!於此比丘沒有如次之見:『彼是世界,彼是我,我于死後,成為常住、常恆、久遠、非變異法,我是永遠如是存在。』

    So suṇāti tathāgatassa vā tathāgatasāvakassa vā sabbesaṃ diṭṭhiṭṭhānādhiṭṭhānapariyuṭṭhānābhinivesānusayānaṃ samugghātāya sabbasaṅkhārasamathāya sabbūpadhipaṭinissaggāya taṇhākkhayāya virāgāya nirodhāya nibbānāya dhammaṃ desentassa.
    彼從如來或從如來之弟子,為除一切之見處、偏見、纏、傾、隨眠之芟,為一切行之止靜,為一切依之破棄,為渴愛之斷,為貪欲之離,為滅盡,為涅槃,而聽說法。

    Tassa na evaṃ hoti – ‘ucchijjissāmi nāmassu, vinassissāmi nāmassu, nassu nāma bhavissāmī’ti.
   
而且彼不作是念:「我實是斷滅、我實是破滅、我實不成為永遠存在者。」

    So na socati na kilamati na paridevati na urattāḷiṃ kandati na sammohaṃ āpajjati.
   
彼如是即不愁、不惱、不悲、不打胸哭泣,無有困惑。

    Evaṃ kho, bhikkhu, ajjhattaṃ asati aparitassanā hoti”.
   
比丘!如是於內非實有者,於無有焦勞。

    243. “Taṃ [tañca (ka.)], bhikkhave, pariggahaṃ pariggaṇheyyātha, yvāssa [yvāssu (ka.)] pariggaho nicco dhuvo sassato avipariṇāmadhammo, sassatisamaṃ tatheva tiṭṭheyya.
    比丘們!凡所有物以為常住、常恆、久遠、非變異法,而得永遠如其狀態之存在,如是可持得其所有物耶?
    Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, taṃ pariggahaṃ yvāssa pariggaho nicco dhuvo sassato avipariṇāmadhammo, sassatisamaṃ tatheva tiṭṭheyyā”ti?
    比丘們!又你們能見常住、常恆、久遠、非變異法,而得永遠如其狀態之存在,曾見如是之所有物耶?」

    “No hetaṃ, bhante”. “Sādhu, bhikkhave.
   
[比丘說:]「實不然!大德!」

    Ahampi kho taṃ, bhikkhave, pariggahaṃ na samanupassāmi yvāssa pariggaho nicco dhuvo sassato avipariṇāmadhammo sassatisamaṃ tatheva tiṭṭheyya.
    [世尊說:]「善哉!比丘們!我亦未曾見常住、常恆、久遠、非變異法,而得永遠如其狀態之存在,未曾見如是之所有物也。

    “Taṃ, bhikkhave, attavādupādānaṃ upādiyetha, yaṃsa [yassa (syā. ka.)] attavādupādānaṃ upādiyato na uppajjeyyuṃ sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupāyāsā.
    比丘們!若人執著『我語取──靈魂理論』時,對於此,而不生愁、悲、苦、憂、惱者,可得如是之執著『我語取──靈魂理論』耶?

    Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, taṃ attavādupādānaṃ yaṃsa attavādupādānaṃ upādiyato na uppajjeyyuṃ sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupāyāsā”ti?
    比丘們!又你們執著『我語取──靈魂理論』時,對於此,而不生愁、悲、苦、憂、惱者,得見如是之執著『我語取──靈魂理論』耶?

    “No hetaṃ, bhante”. “Sādhu, bhikkhave.
   
[比丘說:]「實不然!大德!」

    Ahampi kho taṃ, bhikkhave, attavādupādānaṃ na samanupassāmi yaṃsa attavādupādānaṃ upādiyato na uppajjeyyuṃ sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupāyāsā.
    [世尊說:]「善哉!比丘們!我亦以若執著『我語取──靈魂理論』時,對於此,而不生愁、悲、苦、憂、惱者,未曾見如是之執著『我語取──靈魂理論』也。

    “Taṃ, bhikkhave, diṭṭhinissayaṃ nissayetha yaṃsa diṭṭhinissayaṃ nissayato na uppajjeyyuṃ sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupāyāsā.
    比丘們!若人遵循『見取──依賴邪見』時,對於此,而不生愁、悲、苦、憂、惱者,可得如是之遵循『見取──依賴邪見』耶?

    Passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, taṃ diṭṭhinissayaṃ yaṃsa diṭṭhinissayaṃ nissayato na uppajjeyyuṃ sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupāyāsā”ti?
    比丘們!又你們遵循『見取──依賴邪見』時,對於此,而不生愁、悲、苦、憂、惱者,得見如是之遵循『見取──依賴邪見』耶?

    “No hetaṃ, bhante”.
   
[比丘說:]「實不然!大德!」

    “Sādhu, bhikkhave. Ahampi kho taṃ, bhikkhave, diṭṭhinissayaṃ na samanupassāmi yaṃsa diṭṭhinissayaṃ nissayato na uppajjeyyuṃ sokaparidevadukkhadomanassupāyāsā”.
    [世尊說:]「善哉!比丘們!我亦以若遵循『見取──依賴邪見』時,對於此,而不生愁、悲、苦、憂、惱者,未曾見如是之遵循『見取──依賴邪見』也。」

    244. “Attani vā, bhikkhave, sati attaniyaṃ me ti assā”ti?
   
「比丘們!如果『我』存在時,那麼『屬於我者』存在否?」

    “Evaṃ, bhante”.
   
[比丘說:]「然!存在,大德!」

    “Attaniye vā, bhikkhave, sati attā me ti assā”ti?
   
[世尊說:]「比丘們!如果『屬於我者』存在時,那麼『我之主體』存在否?」

    “Evaṃ, bhante”.
   
[比丘說:]「然!存在,大德!」

    “Attani ca, bhikkhave, attaniye ca saccato thetato anupalabbhamāne,
   
[世尊說:]「比丘們!如果『我』及『屬於我者』,不得真實時,

    yampi taṃ diṭṭhiṭṭhānaṃ – ‘so loko so attā, so pecca bhavissāmi nicco dhuvo sassato avipariṇāmadhammo, sassatisamaṃ tatheva ṭhassāmī’ti – nanāyaṃ [na ca khoyaṃ (ka.)], bhikkhave, kevalo paripūro bāladhammo’”ti?
    又,凡此見處,即──彼是世界,彼是我,彼我死後成為常住、常恆、久遠、非變異法,我是永遠如是存在──比丘們!實是非智、完全愚法者否?」

    “Kiñhi no siyā, bhante, kevalo hi, bhante, paripūro [kevalo paripūro (sī. pī.)] bāladhammo”ti.
   
[比丘說:]「大德!何故非智?大德!實完全愚法者耶?」

    “Taṃ kiṃ maññatha, bhikkhave, rūpaṃ niccaṃ vā aniccaṃ vā”ti?
   
[世尊說:]「比丘們!以此如何思惟耶?色是常住否?是無常否?」

    “Aniccaṃ, bhante”.
   
[比丘說:]「無常也!大德!」

    “Yaṃ panāniccaṃ, dukkhaṃ vā taṃ sukhaṃ vā”ti?
   
[世尊說:]「無常者是苦否?樂否?」

    “Dukkhaṃ, bhante”.
   
[比丘說:]「苦也!大德!」

    “Yaṃ panāniccaṃ dukkhaṃ vipariṇāmadhammaṃ, kallaṃ nu taṃ samanupassituṃ – etaṃ mama, esohamasmi, eso me attā”ti?
    [世尊說:]「無常、苦、變異法者,得觀察為『此是我所有、此即是我、此乃我之靈魂。』否?」

    “No hetaṃ, bhante”.
   
[比丘說:]「否也!大德!」

    “Taṃ kiṃ maññatha, bhikkhave, vedanā…pe… saññā… saṅkhārā… viññāṇaṃ niccaṃ vā aniccaṃ vā”ti?
   
[世尊說:]「比丘們!以此如何思惟否?受……想……行……識是常住否?是無常否?」

    “Aniccaṃ, bhante”.
   
[比丘說:]「無常也!大德!」

    “Yaṃ panāniccaṃ, dukkhaṃ vā taṃ sukhaṃ vā”ti?
   
[世尊說:]無常者是苦否?是樂否?」

    “Dukkhaṃ, bhante”.
   
[比丘說:]「苦也!大德!」

    “Yaṃ panāniccaṃ dukkhaṃ vipariṇāmadhammaṃ, kallaṃ nu taṃ samanupassituṃ – etaṃ mama, esohamasmi, eso me attā”ti?
    [世尊說:]「無常、苦、變異法者,得觀察為『此是我所有、此即是我、此乃我之靈魂。』否?」

    “No hetaṃ, bhante”.
   
[比丘說:]「否也!大德!」

    “Tasmātiha, bhikkhave, yaṃ kiñci rūpaṃ atītānāgatapaccuppannaṃ, ajjhattaṃ vā bahiddhā vā, oḷārikaṃ vā sukhumaṃ vā, hīnaṃ vā paṇītaṃ vā, yaṃ dūre santike vā, sabbaṃ rūpaṃ ‘netaṃ mama, nesohamasmi, na meso attā’ti – evametaṃ yathābhūtaṃ sammappaññāya daṭṭhabbaṃ. Yā kāci vedanā…pe… yā kāci saññā… ye keci saṅkhārā… yaṃ kiñci viññāṇaṃ atītānāgatapaccuppannaṃ, ajjhattaṃ vā bahiddhā vā, oḷārikaṃ vā sukhumaṃ vā, hīnaṃ vā paṇītaṃ vā, yaṃ dūre santike vā, sabbaṃ viññāṇaṃ ‘netaṃ mama, nesohamasmi, na meso attā’ti – evametaṃ yathābhūtaṃ sammappaññāya daṭṭhabbaṃ”.
    [世尊說:]「比丘們!是故無論色……受……想……行……識之過去、未來、現在、內、外、粗、細、劣、勝、遠、近,應以正慧,如實觀察:『此非我所有、此非是我、此非我之靈魂。』」

    245. “Evaṃ passaṃ, bhikkhave, sutavā ariyasāvako rūpasmiṃ nibbindati, vedanāya nibbindati, saññāya nibbindati, saṅkhāresu nibbindati, viññāṇasmiṃ nibbindati, nibbidā virajjati [nibbindaṃ virajjati (sī. syā. pī.)], virāgā vimuccati, vimuttasmiṃ vimuttamiti ñāṇaṃ hoti. ‘Khīṇā jāti, vusitaṃ brahmacariyaṃ, kataṃ karaṇīyaṃ, nāparaṃ itthattāyā’ti pajānāti.
    比丘們!如是觀之多聞聖弟子,以厭色、以厭受、以厭想、以厭行、以厭識、以厭彼而離著,以離著而解脫,於解脫而解脫智生,徹知:『此是最後一生,梵行已成,應作已作,更不受後有之輪迴狀態。』

    已捨棄 ➾ ➊ 無明──去障礙者、➋ 再生──覆蓋溝坑者、➌ 渴愛──已拔欲箭者、➍ 五下分結──自由者、➎ 我慢──聖者、降幢幡者、放下荷物者、卸軛解縛者。

    Ayaṃ vuccati, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ukkhittapaligho itipi, saṃkiṇṇaparikkho itipi, abbūḷhesiko itipi, niraggaḷo itipi, ariyo pannaddhajo pannabhāro visaṃyutto itipi.
    比丘們!知此比丘為➊ 去障礙者、➋ 覆蓋溝坑者、➌ 已拔欲箭者、➍ 自由者;➎ 又知為聖者、降幢幡者、放下荷物者、卸軛解縛者!

    “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ukkhittapaligho hoti?

比丘們!如何比丘是去障礙者?

    Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno avijjā pahīnā hoti, ucchinnamūlā tālāvatthukatā anabhāvaṃkatā, āyatiṃ anuppādadhammā.
    比丘們!於是,言比丘因已捨棄『無明』,如已斷根、截頭之棕櫚樹,歸於非有,於未來不會再生。

    Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ukkhittapaligho hoti.
   
比丘們!如是比丘是去障礙者也。

    “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu saṃkiṇṇaparikkho hoti?

比丘們!如何比丘是覆蓋溝坑者?

    Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno ponobbhaviko jātisaṃsāro pahīno hoti, ucchinnamūlo tālāvatthukato anabhāvaṃkato, āyatiṃ anuppādadhammo.
    比丘們!言比丘因已捨棄『導致輪迴之再生』,如已斷根、截頭之棕櫚樹,歸於非有,於未來不會再生。

    Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu saṃkiṇṇaparikkho hoti.
   
比丘們!如是比丘為覆蓋溝坑者。

    “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu abbūḷhesiko hoti?
    ➌
比丘們!如何比丘是已拔欲箭者?

    Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno taṇhā pahīnā hoti, ucchinnamūlā tālāvatthukatā anabhāvaṃkatā, āyatiṃ anuppādadhammā.
   
比丘們!言比丘因已捨棄『渴愛』,如已斷根、截頭之棕櫚樹,歸於非有,於未來不會再生。

    Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu abbūḷhesiko hoti.
   
比丘們!如是比丘是已拔欲箭者。

    “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu niraggaḷo hoti?

比丘們!如何比丘是自由者?

    Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno pañca orambhāgiyāni saṃyojanāni pahīnāni honti, ucchinnamūlāni tālāvatthukatāni anabhāvaṃkatāni, āyatiṃ anuppādadhammāni.
    比丘們!言比丘因已捨棄『五下分結』,如已斷根、截頭之棕櫚樹,歸於非有,於未來不會再生。

    Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu niraggaḷo hoti.
   
比丘們!如是比丘是自由者。

    “Kathañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ariyo pannaddhajo pannabhāro visaṃyutto hoti?

比丘們!如何比丘是聖者、降幢幡者、放下荷物者、卸軛解縛者?

    Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno asmimāno pahīno hoti, ucchinnamūlo tālāvatthukato anabhāvaṃkato, āyatiṃ anuppādadhammo.

比丘們!言比丘因已捨棄『我慢』,如已斷根、截頭之棕櫚樹,歸於非有,於未來不會再生。


    Evaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ariyo pannaddhajo pannabhāro visaṃyutto hoti.
   
比丘們!如是比丘是聖者、降幢幡者、放下荷物者、卸軛解縛者也。

    246. “Evaṃ vimuttacittaṃ kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhuṃ saindā devā sabrahmakā sapajāpatikā anvesaṃ nādhigacchanti – ‘idaṃ nissitaṃ tathāgatassa viññāṇan’ti.
    比丘們!有如是解脫心之比丘,帝釋天界、梵天界、生主界之諸天界,不得知:『依此以識如來。』

    Taṃ kissa hetu? Diṭṭhevāhaṃ, bhikkhave, dhamme tathāgataṃ ananuvijjoti vadāmi.
   
何以故?比丘們!我謂:『於現法不可知如來。』

    Evaṃvādiṃ kho maṃ, bhikkhave, evamakkhāyiṃ eke samaṇabrāhmaṇā asatā tucchā musā abhūtena abbhācikkhanti – ‘venayiko samaṇo gotamo, sato sattassa ucchedaṃ vināsaṃ vibhavaṃ paññāpetī’ti.
    比丘們!我以如是說、如是語、或沙門、婆羅門,是非真、空虛、虛妄、不實而誣謗,謂:『沙門瞿曇是虛無論者!教存在之有情,斷滅破壞非有。』

    Yathā cāhaṃ na, bhikkhave [bhikkhave na (sī. syā. pī.)], yathā cāhaṃ na vadāmi, tathā maṃ te bhonto samaṇabrāhmaṇā asatā tucchā musā abhūtena abbhācikkhanti – ‘venayiko samaṇo gotamo, sato sattassa ucchedaṃ vināsaṃ vibhavaṃ paññāpetī’ti.
    然而,比丘們!我對彼等沙門、婆羅門、以非真、空虛、虛妄、不實之誣謗,如言:『沙門瞿曇是虛無論者!教存在之有情,斷滅破壞非有』者,為非如是、非如是說者也!

    Pubbe cāhaṃ bhikkhave, etarahi ca dukkhañceva paññāpemi, dukkhassa ca nirodhaṃ.
   
比丘們!我教導對於過去、現在──知苦之智慧與苦之熄滅。

    Tatra ce, bhikkhave, pare tathāgataṃ akkosanti paribhāsanti rosenti vihesenti, tatra, bhikkhave, tathāgatassa na hoti āghāto na appaccayo na cetaso anabhiraddhi.
    於此,比丘們!倘若來者,雖欲非難、誹謗、瞋恚、惱害如來;於此,比丘們!如來無有瞋怒、無有憂惱、無有不滿。

    “Tatra ce, bhikkhave, pare tathāgataṃ sakkaronti garuṃ karonti mānenti pūjenti, tatra, bhikkhave, tathāgatassa na hoti ānando na somanassaṃ na cetaso uppilāvitattaṃ.
    於此,比丘們!倘若來者,雖恭敬、尊重、尊敬、崇拜如來;於此,比丘們!如來無有歡喜、無有喜悅、心無踴躍也。

    Tatra ce, bhikkhave, pare vā tathāgataṃ sakkaronti garuṃ karonti mānenti pūjenti, tatra, bhikkhave, tathāgatassa evaṃ hoti – ‘yaṃ kho idaṃ pubbe pariññātaṃ tattha me evarūpā kārā [sakkārā (ka.)] karīyantī’ti.
    於此,比丘們!倘若來者,雖恭敬、尊重、尊敬、崇拜如來;於此,比丘們!如來唯作此念:『彼既了知此事;所以,對我作如是行。』

    Tasmātiha, bhikkhave, tumhe cepi pare akkoseyyuṃ paribhāseyyuṃ roseyyuṃ viheseyyuṃ, tatra tumhe hi na āghāto na appaccayo na cetaso anabhiraddhi karaṇīyā.
    比丘們!是故,倘若來者,對你們雖欲罵詈、誹謗、瞋恚;於此,你們不得作瞋恚、不滿、忿怒。

    Tasmātiha, bhikkhave, tumhe cepi pare sakkareyyuṃ garuṃ kareyyuṃ māneyyuṃ pūjeyyuṃ, tatra tumhehi na ānando na somanassaṃ na cetaso uppilāvitattaṃ karaṇīyaṃ.
    又,比丘們!是故,倘若來者,對你們雖恭敬、尊重、尊敬、崇拜;於此,你們不得作歡喜、喜悅、踴躍。

    Tasmātiha, bhikkhave, tumhe cepi pare sakkareyyuṃ garuṃ kareyyuṃ māneyyuṃ pūjeyyuṃ, tatra tumhākaṃ evamassa – ‘yaṃ kho idaṃ pubbe pariññātaṃ, tattha me [tattha no (ka.) tattha + imeti padacchedo] evarūpā kārā karīyantī’ti.
    又,比丘們!是故,倘若來者,對你們雖恭敬、尊重、尊敬、崇拜;於此,你們應作是念:『彼既了知此事;所以,對我等作如是行。』

    247. “Tasmātiha, bhikkhave, yaṃ na tumhākaṃ taṃ pajahatha; taṃ vo pahīnaṃ dīgharattaṃ hitāya sukhāya bhavissati.
   
因此,比丘們!凡不屬於你們者,應捨之;你們若捨此者,永久饒益,以致幸福。

    Kiñca, bhikkhave, na tumhākaṃ?
   
比丘們!何者為不屬於你們呢?

    Rūpaṃ, bhikkhave, na tumhākaṃ, taṃ pajahatha; taṃ vo pahīnaṃ dīgharattaṃ hitāya sukhāya bhavissati.
   
比丘們!『色』不屬於你們者,應捨之;你們若捨此者,永久饒益,以致幸福。

    Vedanā, bhikkhave, na tumhākaṃ, taṃ pajahatha; sā vo pahīnā dīgharattaṃ hitāya sukhāya bhavissati.
   
比丘們!『受』不屬於你們者,應捨之;你們若捨此者,永久饒益,以致幸福。

    Saññā, bhikkhave, na tumhākaṃ, taṃ pajahatha; sā vo pahīnā dīgharattaṃ hitāya sukhāya bhavissati.
   
比丘們!『想』不屬於你們者,應捨之;你們若捨此者,永久饒益,以致幸福。

    Saṅkhārā, bhikkhave, na tumhākaṃ, te pajahatha; te vo pahīnā dīgharattaṃ hitāya sukhāya bhavissanti.
   
比丘們!『行』不屬於你們者,應捨之;你們若捨此者,永久饒益,以致幸福。

    Viññāṇaṃ, bhikkhave, na tumhākaṃ, taṃ pajahatha; taṃ vo pahīnaṃ dīgharattaṃ hitāya sukhāya bhavissati.
   
比丘們!『識』不屬於你們者,應捨之;你們若捨此者,永久饒益,以致幸福。

    Taṃ kiṃ maññatha, bhikkhave, yaṃ imasmiṃ jetavane tiṇakaṭṭhasākhāpalāsaṃ, taṃ jano hareyya vā daheyya vā yathāpaccayaṃ vā kareyya.
    在此,比丘們!你們如何思惟呢?若祇陀林園,有草、木、枝、葉,有人或持去,或燒之、或隨意處理之。

    Api nu tumhākaṃ evamassa – ‘amhe jano harati vā dahati vā yathāpaccayaṃ vā karotī’ti?
   
於是,你們認為:『有人將屬於我們之物,或持去、或燒之、或隨意處理否?』」

    “No hetaṃ, bhante”.
   
[比丘說:]「不然!大德!」

    “Taṃ kissa hetu”?
   
[世尊說:]「何以故?」

    “Na hi no etaṃ, bhante, attā vā attaniyaṃ vā”ti.
   
[比丘說:]「大德!對於我們來說,這些東西或非我,或非屬我所有。」

    “Evameva kho, bhikkhave, yaṃ na tumhākaṃ taṃ pajahatha; taṃ vo pahīnaṃ dīgharattaṃ hitāya sukhāya bhavissati.
    [世尊說:]「因此,比丘們!凡不屬於你們者,應捨之;你們若捨此者,永久饒益,以致幸福。

    Kiñca, bhikkhave, na tumhākaṃ?
   
比丘們!何者為不屬於你們呢?

    Rūpaṃ, bhikkhave, na tumhākaṃ, taṃ pajahatha; taṃ vo pahīnaṃ dīgharattaṃ hitāya sukhāya bhavissati.
   
比丘們!『色』不屬於你們者,應捨之;你們若捨此者,永久饒益,以致幸福。

    Vedanā, bhikkhave…pe… saññā, bhikkhave… saṅkhārā, bhikkhave…pe… viññāṇaṃ, bhikkhave, na tumhākaṃ, taṃ pajahatha; taṃ vo pahīnaṃ dīgharattaṃ hitāya sukhāya bhavissati.
    比丘們!『受』不屬於你們者,應捨之;你們若捨此者,永久饒益,以致幸福。
   
比丘們!『想』不屬於你們者,應捨之;你們若捨此者,永久饒益,以致幸福。
   
比丘們!『行』不屬於你們者,應捨之;你們若捨此者,永久饒益,以致幸福。
   
比丘們!『識』不屬於你們者,應捨之;你們若捨此者,永久饒益,以致幸福。

    六沙門果 ➾ ⑴ 阿羅漢果──不受後有;⑵ 不還果──斷五下分結;⑶ 一來果──斷三結、薄貪、瞋、癡;⑷ 預流果──斷三結;⑸ 隨法行、隨信行者──趣向正覺;⑹ 唯持信、唯親近者──趣向天界。

    248. “Evaṃ svākkhāto, bhikkhave, mayā dhammo uttāno vivaṭo pakāsito chinnapilotiko.
   
如是,比丘們!由我善說法要,使人明瞭、眼明、得見、切斷結縛──

    Evaṃ svākkhāte, bhikkhave, mayā dhamme uttāne vivaṭe pakāsite chinnapilotike ye te bhikkhū arahanto khīṇāsavā vusitavanto katakaraṇīyā ohitabhārā anuppattasadatthā parikkhīṇabhavasaṃyojanā sammadaññā vimuttā, vaṭṭaṃ tesaṃ natthi paññāpanāya.
    ⑴ 因為,比丘們!藉由我善說法要,使人明瞭、眼明、得見、切斷結縛;所以,證阿羅漢之比丘,諸漏已盡、修行成滿、應作已作、已棄荷擔、逮達己利、斷諸有結、解脫智生,徹知:『此是最後一生,更不受後有之輪迴狀態。』

    Evaṃ svākkhāto, bhikkhave, mayā dhammo uttāno vivaṭo pakāsito chinnapilotiko.
   
如是,比丘們!由我善說法要,使人明瞭、眼明、得見、切斷結縛──

    Evaṃ svākkhāte, bhikkhave, mayā dhamme uttāne vivaṭe pakāsite chinnapilotike yesaṃ bhikkhūnaṃ pañcorambhāgiyāni saṃyojanāni pahīnāni, sabbe te opapātikā, tattha parinibbāyino, anāvattidhammā tasmā lokā.
    ⑵ 因為,比丘們!藉由我善說法要,使人明瞭、眼明、得見、切斷結縛;所以,斷五下分結之比丘,成為化生者:『不從彼世界還而般涅槃者。』

    Evaṃ svākkhāto, bhikkhave, mayā dhammo uttāno vivaṭo pakāsito chinnapilotiko.
   
如是,比丘們!由我善說法要,使人明瞭、眼明、得見、切斷結縛──

    Evaṃ svākkhāte, bhikkhave, mayā dhamme uttāne vivaṭe pakāsite chinnapilotike yesaṃ bhikkhūnaṃ tīṇi saṃyojanāni pahīnāni, rāgadosamohā tanubhūtā, sabbe te sakadāgāmino, sakideva imaṃ lokaṃ āgantvā dukkhassantaṃ karissanti.
    ⑶ 因為,比丘們!藉由我善說法要,使人明瞭、眼明、得見、切斷結縛;所以,已斷三結之比丘,已微薄貪、瞋、癡,成為一來者:『為一次來此世界而盡苦邊者。』

    Evaṃ svākkhāto, bhikkhave, mayā dhammo uttāno vivaṭo pakāsito chinnapilotiko.
   
如是,比丘們!由我善說法要,使人明瞭、眼明、得見、切斷結縛──

    Evaṃ svākkhāte, bhikkhave, mayā dhamme uttāne vivaṭe pakāsite chinnapilotike yesaṃ bhikkhūnaṃ tīṇi saṃyojanāni pahīnāni, sabbe te sotāpannā, avinipātadhammā, niyatā sambodhiparāyanā.
    ⑷ 因為,比丘們!藉由我善說法要,使人明瞭、眼明、得見、切斷結縛;所以,已斷三結之比丘,成為預流者:『不墮於惡趣者,決定趣向正覺。』

    Evaṃ svākkhāto, bhikkhave, mayā dhammo uttāno vivaṭo pakāsito chinnapilotiko.
   
如是,比丘們!由我善說法要,使人明瞭、眼明、得見、切斷結縛──

    Evaṃ svākkhāte, bhikkhave, mayā dhamme uttāne vivaṭe pakāsite chinnapilotike ye te bhikkhū dhammānusārino saddhānusārino sabbe te sambodhiparāyanā.
    ⑸ 因為,比丘們!藉由我善說法要,使人明瞭、眼明、得見、切斷結縛;所以,隨法行、隨信行之比丘:『當趣向正覺。』

    Evaṃ svākkhāto, bhikkhave, mayā dhammo uttāno vivaṭo pakāsito chinnapilotiko.
   
如是,比丘們!由我善說法要,使人明瞭、眼明、得見、切斷結縛──

    Evaṃ svākkhāte, bhikkhave, mayā dhamme uttāne vivaṭe pakāsite chinnapilotike yesaṃ mayi saddhāmattaṃ pemamattaṃ sabbe te saggaparāyanā”ti.
    ⑹ 因為,比丘們!藉由我善說法要,使人明瞭、眼明、得見、切斷結縛;所以,唯持信、唯親近之比丘:『當趣向天界。』」

    Idamavoca bhagavā.
    世尊如是說法已。

    Attamanā te bhikkhū bhagavato bhāsitaṃ abhinandunti.
    比丘們,心滿意足、歡喜信受世尊之所說。

    Alagaddūpamasuttaṃ niṭṭhitaṃ dutiyaṃ.
