第三品 沙門果報之第三例 Paṇītatarasāmaññaphalaṃ
(四十) 189. “Sakkā pana, bhante, aññampi diṭṭheva dhamme sandiṭṭhikaṃ sāmaññaphalaṃ paññapetuṃ imehi sandiṭṭhikehi sāmaññaphalehi abhikkantatarañca paṇītatarañcā”ti?
王曰:「大德!此兩種以外,更有如是沙門修行現世果報微妙殊勝之說明耶?」
"But is it possible, lord, to point out yet another fruit of the contemplative life, visible in the here and now?"
“Sakkā, mahārāja.
世尊曰:「大王!我說此為可能。
"Yes, it is, great king.
Tena hi, mahārāja, suṇohi, sādhukaṃ manasi karohi, bhāsissāmī”ti.
然,大王!諦聽善思念之,我當說。」
Listen and pay close attention. I will speak.
“Evaṃ, bhante”ti kho rājā māgadho ajātasattu vedehiputto bhagavato paccassosi.
摩揭陀國王韋提希子阿闍世答世尊曰:「如是,世尊!」

(四十一) 190. Bhagavā etadavoca –
世尊如此說:

第一章 憶念佛德
“idha, mahārāja, ① tathāgato loke uppajjati ② arahaṃ ③ sammāsambuddho ④ vijjācaraṇasampanno ⑤ sugato ⑥ lokavidū ⑦ anuttaro ⑧ purisadammasārathi ⑨ satthā devamanussānaṃ ⑩ buddho ⑪ bhagavā.
「如是,大王!① 如來出現於世,實是:『② 阿羅漢――應供者、③ 正遍知――正等覺者、④ 明行足者、⑤ 善逝者、⑥ 世間解者、⑦ 無上士者、⑧ 調禦丈夫者,⑨ 天人師者、⑩ 佛陀、⑪ 世尊。』
"There is the case, great king, where a Tathagata appears in the world, worthy and rightly self-awakened.
So imaṃ lokaṃ sadevakaṃ samārakaṃ sabrahmakaṃ sassamaṇabrāhmaṇiṃ pajaṃ sadevamanussaṃ sayaṃ abhiññā sacchikatvā pavedeti.
如來是含括天界、魔界、梵天界、此世界、沙門、梵行者、天、人之眾生,開示自己之證悟。
He teaches the Dhamma admirable in its beginning, admirable in its middle, admirable in its end.
So dhammaṃ deseti ādikalyāṇaṃ majjhekalyāṇaṃ pariyosānakalyāṇaṃ sātthaṃ sabyañjanaṃ, kevalaparipuṇṇaṃ parisuddhaṃ brahmacariyaṃ pakāseti.
如來宣說初善、中善、後亦善,具足文義之教法及無比圓滿清淨之梵行。
He proclaims the holy life both in its particulars and in its essence, entirely perfect, surpassingly pure.
第二章 居士出家 (Higher Fruits of the Contemplative Life)
☆ 佛遺教經 ➾ 汝等比丘,當自摩頭,已捨飾好,著壞色衣,執持應器,以乞自活,自見如是。
(四十二) 191. Taṃ dhammaṃ suṇāti gahapati vā gahapatiputto vā aññatarasmiṃ vā kule paccājāto.
居士或居士子,或其他族姓子,聽聞如來之教法;
"A householder or householder's son, hearing the Dhamma,
So taṃ dhammaṃ sutvā tathāgate saddhaṃ paṭilabhati.
聽聞此法已,對如來得信仰,
gains conviction in the Tathagata
So tena saddhāpaṭilābhena samannāgato iti paṭisañcikkhati –
而彼如是熟慮:
and reflects:
☆ 佛遺教經 ➾ 若起憍慢,當疾滅之。增長憍慢,尚非世俗,白衣所宜,何況出家,入道之人,為解脫故,自降其身,而行乞耶!
‘sambādho gharāvāso rajopatho, abbhokāso pabbajjā.
『在家多障礙、塵道,出家之生活是自由自在。
'Household life is confining, a dusty path. The life gone forth is like the open air.
Nayidaṃ sukaraṃ agāraṃ ajjhāvasatā ekantaparipuṇṇaṃ ekantaparisuddhaṃ saṅkhalikhitaṃ brahmacariyaṃ carituṃ.
住在家者,不容易一向修圓滿清淨如螺鈿光耀之梵行。
It is not easy living at home to practice the holy life totally perfect, totally pure, like a polished shell.
Yaṃnūnāhaṃ kesamassuṃ ohāretvā kāsāyāni vatthāni acchādetvā agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajeyyan’ti.
然,即令我剃除鬚髮,著袈裟衣,出家而為無家者。』
What if I were to shave off my hair and beard, put on the ochre robes, and go forth from the household life into homelessness?'
(四十三) 192. “So aparena samayena appaṃ vā bhogakkhandhaṃ pahāya mahantaṃ vā bhogakkhandhaṃ pahāya appaṃ vā ñātiparivaṭṭaṃ pahāya mahantaṃ vā ñātiparivaṭṭaṃ pahāya kesamassuṃ ohāretvā kāsāyāni vatthāni acchādetvā agārasmā anagāriyaṃ pabbajati.
而後,彼捨棄財產及親族,剃除鬚髮,著袈裟衣,出家而為無家者。
"So after some time he abandons his mass of wealth, large or small; leaves his circle of relatives, large or small; shaves off his hair and beard, puts on the ochre robes, and goes forth from the household life into homelessness.
☆ pātimokkha 波羅提木叉 ➾ pātimokkha-saṃvara 別(pāti 朝向)解脫(mokkha)律儀(saṃvara 防護、守則) ➾ 朝向解脫之防護守則。
(四十四) 193. “So evaṃ pabbajito samāno pātimokkha saṃvara saṃvuto viharati ācāragocarasampanno, aṇumattesu vajjesu bhayadassāvī, samādāya sikkhati sikkhāpadesu,
如是出家,依『別解脫律儀』之防護,持戒而住,精勤於正行,見小罪亦恐怖,受學處而修學。
"When he has thus gone forth, he lives restrained by the rules of the monastic code, seeing danger in the slightest faults.
kāyakammavacīkammena samannāgato kusalena, parisuddhājīvo sīlasampanno, indriyesu guttadvāro [guttadvāro, bhojane mattaññū (ka.)], satisampajaññena samannāgato, santuṭṭho.
具足清淨之身業語業,過清淨生活,戒具足,守護諸根門,圓滿具足正念正知。
Consummate in his virtue, he guards the doors of his senses, is possessed of mindfulness and alertness, and is content.
